Our Philosophy

At  Jack and Jill we do our best to:

  • Provide a warm, secure and loving environment
  • Help each child feel happy, confident and eager to experience new opportunities to discover more about themselves and the world around them
  • Guide and direct learning sensitively, through the structuring of the environment and the provision of appropriate equipment
  • Facilitate creative expression through the provision of appropriate materials, showing interest and providing encouragement
  • Provide an aesthetically pleasing environment, fostering concern for equipment and other people’s belongings
  • Model desired behaviour and give reasons for expected behaviour
  • Provide an open environment in which the children can make their own choices and direct their own play
  • Direct behaviour through giving choices and making suggestions
  • Support each child and direct them to utilise the Jack and Jill experience to its fullest potential for creative and discovery learning
  • Consider observed needs and interests of our children when planning for group and individual experiences
  • Give support and guidance to parents whenever sought
  • Respect privacy and confidentiality
  • At the heart of our philosophy is the belief that children learn by doing. They need opportunity to work with different  materials and activities. They need time to master new skills and the confidence to make choices and be adapatable to change and ultimately to be independent. This will only come about through a warm, caring, consistent and stimulating environment which we aim to provide at Jack and Jill.
